When I strike a single note on the guitar, you hear the initial hit. But then, notice how the sound stretches out into the room? The note fades, but its echo—the reverb tail—lingers in the air, creating an atmosphere.
Our minds work the exact same way.
A thought is just a note. It strikes, it grabs your attention, and then it passes. But the process of thinking leaves an after-effect. It leaves a reverb tail in your body. A stressful thought leaves a cold, tense echo in your shoulders. A peaceful thought leaves a warm, spacious resonance in your chest.
Sometimes, our minds get caught in a delay loop. A single worry repeats over and over, getting louder and more distorted, cluttering our internal space.
